Susana Torres Molina: La indagación del mundo femenino en su dramaturgia y dirección teatral

    Get PDF
The purpose of this work is to analyze the use of the aesthetics of the theatre of the image by Susana Torres Molina in the feminine world of current Argentina. The content of the plays written and directed by Torres Molina is generally related to the world of women. The director represents such world by actresses and especially through their bodies. As playwright and director, Torres Molina’s interest focuses in what happens within the woman, exploring the nature of her world and reconstructing such experience. Men’s image does not materialize onto the stage but through the woman’s voice. Throughout the analysis of Torres Molina’s plays emerge her intention, not in presenting the man as oppressor, but in discussing the theme of woman’s awareness. (EC, in Spanish

Metatranscriptomic analysis of larvae guts from field-collected and laboratory-reared Spodoptera frugiperda from the South American subtropical region

    Get PDF
This is the first study to report a high-throughput approach integrating gene expression data from Spodoptera frugiperda guts and their associated metatranscriptomes. Our datasets provide information on the potential effects of environmental conditions on the expression profile of S. frugiperda larval guts, their associated metatranscriptome, and putative interactions between them.Fil: Mccarthy, Cristina Beryl. La nación en la cancha: un diálogo comparativo entre los relatos nacionales argentinos y brasileros durante la Copa del mundo Brasil 2014

    Get PDF
Spectral self-action of THz emission from ionizing two-color laser pulses in gases

    Get PDF
The spectrum of terahertz (THz) emission in gases via ionizing two-color femtosecond pulses is analyzed by means of a semi-analytic model and finite-difference-time-domain simulations in 1D and 2D geometries. We show that produced THz signals interact with free electron trajectories and thus influence significantly further THz generation upon propagation, i.e., make the process inherently nonlocal. This self-action plays a key role in the observed strong spectral broadening of the generated THz field. Diffraction limits the achievable THz bandwidth by efficiently depleting the low frequency amplitudes in the propagating field.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure

Effects of pyruvate administration on infarct volume and neurological deficits following permanent focal cerebral ischemia in rats

Recent experimental evidences indicate that pyruvate, the final metabolite of glycolysis, has a remarkable protective effect against different types of brain injury. The purpose of this study was to assess the neuroprotective effect and the neurological outcome after pyruvate administration in a model of ischemic stroke induced by permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (pMCAO) in rats. Three doses of pyruvate (250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg, i.p.) or vehicle were administered intraperitoneally 30 min after pMCAO. In other set of experiments, pyruvate was given either before, immediately after ischemia or in a long-term administration paradigm. Functional outcome, mortality and infarct volume were determined 24 h after stroke. Even when the lowest doses of pyruvate reduced mortality and neurological deficits, no concomitant reduction in infarct volume was observed. The highest dose of pyruvate increased cortical infarction by 27% when administered 30 min after pMCAO. In addition, when pyruvate was given before pMCAO, a significant increase in neurological deficits was noticed. Surprisingly, on the contrary of what was found in the case of transient global ischemia, present findings do not support a great neuroprotective role for pyruvate in permanent focal cerebral ischemia, suggesting two distinct mechanisms involved in the effects of this glycolytic metabolite in the ischemic brain

Directionality of THz emission from photoinduced gas plasmas

Forward and backward THz emission by ionizing two-color laser pulses in gas is investigated by means of a simple semi-analytical model based on Jefimenko's equation and rigorous Maxwell simulations in one and two dimensions. We find the emission in backward direction having a much smaller spectral bandwidth than in forward direction and explain this by interference effects. Forward THz radiation is generated predominantly at the ionization front and thus almost not affected by the opacity of the plasma, in excellent agreement with results obtained from a unidirectional pulse propagation model
